Whether you dig out the storage box filled with plastic eggs or purchase new ones, why not use a few dozen for some Easter math fun?!
Christina Tondevold from Build Math Minds correlated some great Easter egg activities to help your child subitize and practice other math concepts we've learned this year.
Subitize...what is that? Subitizing is the ability to instantly recognize how many in a set without counting. This year, our kindergartners have practiced subitizing with five and ten frame flash cards. Our math curriculum, Singapore Math Dimensions, also often uses dice or fingers for the pictorial representation in the CPA approach. The simplest way we've subitized is by flashing a number of fingers and asking the student to say the number without counting the fingers.
The Easter egg activities on Build Math Minds include:
subitizing with ten frame and dice patterns
matching teen number words with their corresponding ten and a number
Parents can also write addition or subtraction math facts on the eggs, as well.
Have fun building "eggcellent" math skills with your child!
